Some believe Tris' death didn't happen because it was going to be in that final movie, since it happens near the end of the Allegiant book. Others don't think she would've died in movies anyways as the plot is already quite different from books. These are possible reasons why it doesn't happen in movies when it does in books.
The earlier two films in the "Divergent" series were before named: "Allegiant: Part 1," and "Allegiant: Part 2." "Divergent" series, adopted from author Veronica Roth's novel of the same name has just made a major change to YA book-to-film adaptation titling.
Allegiant Summary. After Edith Prior's video footage reveals to the city that there is a whole world outside of the city limits, the city's social system is in shambles. The factions have disintegrated, and Evelyn rules the city as a tyrant with her factionless army. Tris, Tobias, and their friends set out on a mission to discover what is
Allegiant Summary. (Spoilers all over the place here, folks!) Allegiant opens with our hero, Beatrice "Tris" Prior, in a prison inside a prison. See, she's in an actual jail cell for going all traitor in the last book and revealing information that has changed the city forever. We're so ready to bust out of this giant fenced-in city, Shawshank

the ending actually was pretty good, if you think about it a little bit. during insurgent, tris always tried to force a sacrifice, but was rescued everytime. in allegiant, she believes that she will survive the death serum, she really WANTS to live and ends up making a sacrifice for the chicago inhabitants. i wouldnt have wanted a happy end
Info from the "Allegiant" book. Spoilers ahead: No, he's not "totally" Divergent like Tris. He's still "genetically damaged", though he can withstand simulations like Divergents. Quote from the book: He touches the screen again, and the screen changes, but it remains just as confusing, a web of lines, tangled threads of numbers.
